Ride through small tribal villages and communities in the desert regions of Rajasthan en route to Jodphur, the ideal opportunity to witness traditional rural life going on as it has for hundreds of years. DayDestinationDescription
Days 1-2DelhiLimber up with a walk through Old Delhi and visit the city's oldest mosque, Jama Masjid. Continue exploring the narrow streets and crowded bazaars for a true taste of India.
Days 3-4UdaipurHead to romantic Udaipur and savour the first taste of India by bike on a day trip around Fateh Sagar Lake.
Days 5-8Rural VillagesMounting our bikes at the Kumbhalgarh Fort, ride through a wildlife sanctuary and lunch near the beautifully carved Ranakpur Jain Temple. The next day, cycle through tribal Rabari hamlets where brightly-clothed men and women can be seen grazing goats and camels, all under the gaze of the Aravalli Ranges. Stay overnight in the ancestral home of a local lord. We end this part of our cycling expedition by traversing the dry and rocky Thar Desert, setting up tents in time for sunset and enjoying a barbecue under a blanket of bright stars.
Days 9-10JodhpurAfter rural Rajasthan, the jumble of bazaars in Jodhpur provide an extreme, but rewarding, change of pace. Explore the colossal Meherangarh Fort and check out the opulent Umaid Bhawan Palace.
Day 11Fort KhejarlaBack in the countryside ride through villages and past schools and farms. Keep an eye out for black bucks, chinkaras and nilagis (Indian antelope).
Days 12-13PushkarKick back and enjoy the atmosphere - and a chai or two - in a chilled-out rooftop cafe. Swap two wheels for four legs and head out into the desert on camelback. Take an optional early morning walk to the hilltop Savitri temple for a magical sunrise.
Days 14-15DelhiWith an afternoon arrival in Delhi, this active cycling adventure comes to an end.
