Days 1-3Gramat to RocamadourThe cycling adventure begins with a ride across open causses, fields and woods. Follow the route past the ruins of the Moulin de Sault, then along the Gorge d'Alzou. Cross streams, taking narrow tracks all the way to Rocamadour, which rises from a cliff in a series of terraces. Nighttime casts deep shadows over the crags that bear its buildings, so the town become an eerie sight, its structures seeming to float in the air.
Day 4Rocamadour to MeyronneCycle in the Dordogne Valley, across the rolling hills of the Causse de Gramat, through woods and farmland to Meyronne, a small village on the banks of the Dordogne.
Day 5Meyronne to CarennacPedal the up-and-down trail through the region's woodland, descending back down to river level for the evening. Spend tonight in Carennac, a peaceful village of traditional stone houses with steeply pitched tiled roofs and an 11th century priory at its centre.
Day 6Carennac to LoubressacLeaving the river behind, take your bicycle up the plateau of Gouffre de Padirac and on to the red-roofed town of Loubressac. Perched on a rocky outcrop, the walls of this fortified town offer views fit for a king.
Days 7-8Loubressac to St CereThe day begins with a long descent, then a steep climb with magnificent views over the Gorge d'Autoire. Stop by the Chateau de Montal before arriving in St Cere, a bustling market town on the River Bave, at the foot of two medieval towers.
