| Day 1 | Nairobi | East Africa is a long way from home and travel can be arduous. But that's all behind you when you arrive in Nairobi. Your host will meet you and lead the way to the legendary Norfolk Hotel. After a fine dinner, retire for the night. |
| Day 2 | Amboseli National Park | After breakfast we take the road to Amboseli. Set in rolling savannah against the backdrop of snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli is the classic Hollywood image of Africa. Following lunch, we spend the afternoon viewing game in this natural wonder that supports a wealth of wildlife, including one of the largest elephant populations in the world. (Nairobi ? | Day 3 | Amboseli National Park | The world tallest freestanding mountain provides a dramatic backdrop to our morning and afternoon game drives. The park boasts a variety of ecosystems ? marshland, scrubby plain, acacia woodlands ? supporting a diverse range of wildlife including giraffes as well as predators such as lions and cheetahs. On morning and afternoon games drives expect to spot wildebeest and zebra attracted to the marshes and swamps fed by the melting snows of Kilimanjaro. | Day 4 | Samburu Game Reserve | Today we fly to in Kenya's Northern Frontier District. Though Samburu is semi-arid, the game reserve also includes woodlands, rivers, and marshes within its boundaries. Game viewing here includes opportunities to spot crocodiles, velvet monkeys, and perhaps hippopotamuses on muddy riverbanks. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner |
| Day 5 | Samburu Game Reserve | On game drives at this conservancy where in addition to elephant, rhino, leopard and lion, we can expect to see unique northern species such as reticulated giraffe, Grevy's Zebra, beisa oryx, Somali ostrich and the graceful, long necked gerenuk. Later in the day we visit a community center of the Samburu people. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner |
| Day 6 | Mt. Kenya | After an early morning game drive at Samburu, we head for the slopes of Mount Kenya and the exquisite Mount Kenya Safari Club, known for its romantic past, its elegance, and its famous guest list. After lunch you?re free to enjoy the Club's many offerings including Golf, Tennis, and Swimming or take an afternoon visit to the Ol Pejeta Ranch located in the nearby Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary. | Day 7 | Maasai Mara National Reserve | Another day in Africa begins with a brief flight over the Great Rift Valley and its western escarpment to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Our base the, Mara Safari Club sits prime location with amazing views of the Mara. This afternoon we take our first look at this world famous destination. (Samburu ? Mara flight 40mins). | Day 8 | Maasai Mara National Reserve | From a hot air balloon we get a bird's eye view of Kenya's richest concentration of wildlife, and regarded by many travelers as an essential stop on any tour of East Africa. When westerners think of Africa and safari, this is place they imagine. Game drives on will lead you to some of Africa's largest lion prides, herds of zebra, antelopes, buffaloes, wildebeest, giraffes, cheetahs, and hyenas. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner |
| Day 9 | Serengeti National Park | A predawn game drive is followed by breakfast. Then we?re off to the endless plains of the Serengeti by air via Nairobi. These grasslands draw nearly all of the big game ? zebras, migrating wildebeests, antelope ? millions, in fact, that migrate to the Serengeti annually to graze the plains? rich grasses. These animals in turn attract all manner of predators ? lions, cheetahs, hyenas ? that follow the great herds as they roam in search of forage and water. We come here to witness the entire spectacle, the wide horizon, the interplay of predator and prey. (Maasai Mara ? Serengeti flight- 2hrs). Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner |
| Day 10 | Serengeti National Park | Perhaps more than any other wildlife park, the Serengeti and its endless cycle of birth, survival, and death fill our imagination. This day is spent in search of giraffe, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, antelope and the predators that seek them out. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner |
| Day 11 | Ngorongoro Conservancy | Turning north toward Kenya leads us to the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater was formed millions of years ago by the collapse of a long extinct volcano. The resulting 100 square mile depression, surrounded by a 2000 foot volcanic rim, contains within its boundaries water and forage necessary to support most of the familiar African wildlife, and as many as 30,000 large animals populate the crater. | Day 12 | Ngorongoro Conservancy | We spend the entire day on the crater floor amid the large herds of zebra, wildebeest, and antelope are preyed upon by lions. The lake on the floor of the crater supports wading hippos. At mid-day we break for a picnic lunch. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner |
| Day 13 | Nairobi | A fortnight is not as long as it seems and already preparations are underway for the trip home. After breakfast we take a scenic drive to Lake Manyara where we catch our flight to Arusha. Here we stop to enjoy lunch then fly onto Nairobi. The rest of the day is ours to spend as we wish. We can go shopping, visit the Giraffe Center, or tour the Karen Blixen museum of?out of Africa? fame. In the evening we enjoy a farewell dinner at the famous Carnivore Restaurant before heading to the airport for our overnight onward flight. (Ngorongoro ?
